Roger Airfield - a new start for General Aviation
At ILA 2012 roger Airfield is to be the new home of General Aviation. From 11 to 16 September both manufacturers from the region and international exhibitors will be displaying their products and services in a new format. A permanent display featuring individually allocated areas, a separate airfield lounge and a small conference centre as well as exclusive services will ensure that trade visitors get to know the ILA Berlin’s General Aviation section from a completely different angle at roger Airfield. The trade magazine “roger“ has given its name to this section and is also its organiser.
For the general aviation sector the ILA is an important forum for presenting its innovations to a wide audience of experts and the public. Among new designs, eco and climate-friendly aircraft are increasingly attracting the attention of private pilots and sports flying enthusiasts. Accordingly, there is keen interest in electrically propelled, and if possible solar powered aircraft. PC Aero's Electra One Solar, on display at roger Airfield for the first time, shows that good progress is being made. This is an electrically propelled aircraft, with integrated solar panels on its wings and independent batteries for storing solar power. Practically noiseless in the air, Electra One Solar makes 100 % solar powered flight possible for the first time. Thus the ILA is the first trade fair worldwide to present all stages of solar-powered air travel, including charging and flight.
