AIR TECHNICAL OFFICERS INDUCTED INTO NAVY AND COAST GUARD

22 Indian Naval Officers including 03 Coast Guard joined the “Aviation Arm” on successful passing out from Naval Institute of Aeronautical Technology (NIAT) at naval base, Kochi after completion of Air Engineering and Air Electrical Officers Specialisation course. The passing out parade, held on the occasion at naval base on 14 Jul 16 was reviewed by Rear Admiral Srinivas Kanugo, VSM, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Air Material).

Sub Lieutenant Rohan S Bhuskute and Lieutenant Eby P Henry were awarded Trophies for standing first in overall order of merit amongst Air Electrical and Air Engineering Officers respectively. Director General Coast Guard trophy for best all round officer of the course was awarded to Lieutenant Ranjit George. Venduruthy Shield was awarded to Lieutenant Commander A Nazarudeen and Lieutenant Anshul Goel for Best Air Technical Project.

Rear Admiral Srinivas Kanugo, VSM, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Air Materiel), while congratulating award winners, highlighted that Naval Aviation has evolved over the last 6 decades to become a major force to reckon with due to the induction of state of the art flying machines, like MiG 29K, Boeing P8I, Hawk AJT, operationalisation of INS Vikramaditya and likely induction of LCA (Navy) and MRH in the near future.

The officers have been appointed to frontline squadrons at air stations and on completion of On Job Training (OJT) they would be eligible for award of M Tech degree under the aegis of Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT).
