IAF Celebrates 88th Anniversary, Showcases Its Capabilities

The Indian Airforce has celebrated its 88th anniversary with flying displays and colourful parades.

The main celebration with air display by several IAF aircraft and Air Force Day Parade was held at Air Force Station Hindan near New Delhi. Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria, PVSM, AVSM, VM, ADC was the chief guest of the event. The IAF has showcased its prowess and put its mainstream fighter jets and helicopters on display. The key highlights of this year were the display of the newly-inducted Rafale fighter aircraft

"On Air Force Day, we proudly honour our air warriors, veterans, and families of the Indian Air Force. The nation remains indebted to the contribution of the IAF in securing our skies and assisting civil authorities in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief “, said President Ram Nath Kovind in a tweet.

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated warriors of IAF. Air Force personnel not only safeguard India’s skies but also play an exemplary role in humanitarian service, PM Modi said. IAF warriors’ courage, valour and dedication towards the motherland are inspiring.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has conveyed best wishes to the air warriors and their families on the occasion of Air Force Day. He said in a message, “Eighty-eight years of dedication, sacrifice and excellence mark the journey of the IAF which is today a lethal and formidable force to reckon with.” 

The Minister said that the Nation was proud of its men and women in blue and salutes the prowess of the IAF as it stands ready to face challenges and deter adversaries. “We remain committed to enhancement of IAF's combat capability through modernisation and indigenisation, Rajnath Singh tweeted.
